The Drawing Board’s Tile Quilt is on show!

The Drawing Board’s Wonder Quilt project is finished, but its tour has just begun.

Over 60 canvases were handed in and the canvas tiles have been displayed in The Drawing Board throughout April on the Wonder Wall (what a perfect location!).

The installation will move to other locations around Wrexham for upcoming Year of Wonder events such as concerts, the canvas tiles appearing in a different arrangement each time.

It’s wonderful to see the range of responses local artists have had in their approach to decorating their tiles both during the workshops and at home. Here are some examples below, credit to Nick Roe for the photographs.

The range of different themes and mediums used make the artwork as a whole truly dynamic and serve as a beautiful tribute not only to the Wrexham Tailor’s Quilt, but also to Wrexham and it surrounding areas.

Drawing Board Co-Director Jacqui Blore said:

“Our multi-media art workshops inspired by the ‘Wonder Quilt’ have been truly amazing. We have been stunned by the creativity of all the attendees, many of whom have gone away and done their own research into the history of the Tailor’s Coverlet and the Year of Wonder, and then returned each week to produce inspired canvases.”
